Welcome to grapeExpectations

grapeEXPECTATIONS has filled a need in downtown Anchorage. With the amazing support for our local community we have been able to create a store filled with fine wines, spirits and beers. One of our best assets is that we can network with local restaurants and pubs to have wine tasting's. Our ability to be dependent but independent has created the perfect business opportunity. Our goal is to be an important part of downtown. It comes by actively being a part of the community. Our vision for the store was to create an atmosphere where customers feel at home. It also means being bike and dog friendly. grapeEXPECTATIONS prides itself on its customer service. With the help of distributors and associates picking out the right products to carry in the store, grapeEXPECTATIONS has been able to create an excellent balance of wines.


Our Store

Welcome . . . grapeEXPECTATIONS became a vision of Terris while on a trip to Cape Cod. That was in 2007. With the support of her family and friends on Nov. 20th 2009 grapeEXPECTATIONS opened the door. What happened between 2007 and 2009 became a struggle with the growing concerns created by banks saying NO. While waiting for permits to be approved the build-out was well on its way. The vision of a wine store started to come together with Tuscany colors and wine racks that display the art of labels.

We had to look at our business plan and not allow others to take away our dream. With the support of local distributors our dream came true when we were able to fill our store with a great selection of wines and beers.

Our ability to provide a comfortable setting and room to explore the wine, beer and spirits has prompted customers to sit down and chat. Many are excited to share their wine expertise and experience with us. The question asked the most often is "Why a wine shop?" I suppose looking back I have always enjoyed a good glass of wine or beer with friends. Now I have a chance to learn about wine and meet new people. Is it the American dream to own a business? I would have to say YES.

I was born in Anchorage and have spent the last 27 years in customer service. I love Alaska. I enjoy the outdoors and all the beauty Alaska has to offer. I have always been involved in the community. Raising four children has given me the tools to multitask. Learning and experiencing new ideas and people has always been fun and easy. I believe if everyone gave 1% of their time and energy to the community we would have a much better place to live.
